Are you fascinated by IT? Are you interested in commercial processes? Then you can combine these two interests by becoming an IT management assistant and acting as the interface between IT and business. You find out what IT systems are needed, compile descriptions of the software and create programmes to help users. Being a data protection expert, you get to organise all aspects of introducing complex IT projects into the company. Your IT skills are just as important in this job as your business and communication skills.
During the 3-year apprenticeship to become an IT management assistant, you not only spend time in our IT department but also in all relevant commercial departments such as HR, controlling and administration. Your vocational college teaches you the theory you need to know which you can then put straight into practice at our company.
People wishing to apply to do an apprenticeship to become an IT management assistant should – preferably – have an 'allgemeine Hochschulreife' [school leaving certificate (age 18)]. It is extremely important that you understand the ins and outs of IT processes and have some knowledge of business management. Your everyday work at the company is certainly made easier if you are a confident person and enjoy meeting people. What's more, a good knowledge of English is an advantage for when you are involved in negotiations.
Have you completed your apprenticeship and do you want to make a career for yourself? There's a very good chance that you'll be taken on by our company if you get the right grades. We offer an excellent further training programme that enables you to gain further qualifications, e.g. to become a certified IT business engineer, a software developer or an IT systems administrator. Or, of course, you could study at university.
I enjoy travelling to the company's branches and getting to know people from the other companies in the Group when I talk to them on the phone. The two main areas of my apprenticeship are application services and SAP. I've only got to know the application services department so far. I really like the work that I've been doing there. I'll meet the software developers during my third year. What I enjoy most is upgrading the computers as I get to see how all the programmes and systems are installed to make life as easy as possible for the users. I think there is a high demand for IT management assistants at the moment and that this will continue to be the case in the future. What's good here is that you're not only taught about IT but also about business management matters.
