As a warehouse logistics specialist, you are responsible for organising and handling the logistics processes at our company. You accept incoming materials, check that the volumes printed in the accompanying documents correspond with the actual goods, organise the loading/unloading of the products and ensure they are stored correctly in their designated place. Other tasks include checking storage areas as different materials and goods require different conditions. Planning delivery routes, selecting the best form of shipping and compiling delivery notes in line with customs and duty regulations are part of your job as is improving warehouse logistics.
The apprenticeship course to become a warehouse logistics specialist normally lasts three years. Right from the start, you are actively involved in the work carried out in our different departments and plants - getting to know the wide range of tasks that a modern industrial services provider must be able to handle. You gain extensive expertise and get real insight into the many different aspects of warehouse logistics. By the end of the course, you will have learned the skills you need to be able to carry out the day-to-day work of a warehouse logistics specialist on your own.
You must have a 'Hauptschulabschluss' [school leaving certificate (age 16)] to be able to do an apprenticeship to become a warehouse logistics specialist. You should have good organisational and IT skills. Reliability and a sense of responsibility are two of your strengths. What's more, you have an open, confident and friendly manner. You enjoy meeting new people and working as part of a team.
Successfully completing your apprenticeship is just the first step towards your career. If you do well in your course, then you are given the opportunity to join our company. You decide what direction you wish your career to take and whether you want to take part in further training courses to get, for example, your trainer or master qualifications in logistics.
I've spent time in both the departments that accept and ship out the goods. I like the fact that the work is so varied and enjoy working with my colleagues and customers. To be a successful warehouse logistics specialist, you need to be very aware of security issues and carry out your work with great care and attention. Being flexible and enjoying working as part of a team are, of course, just as important as is having a good understanding of IT. REMONDIS was recommended to me by friends and there are plenty of benefits at the company, for the apprentices as well. It's well worth making an effort when you work at REMONDIS.
