OSRO-Ostgathe celebrates 85 years
From haulage company to industrial service provider – investing in the future
OSRO-Ostgathe's motto is: Mastering change. The company developed its technology from horse-drawn carriages to an electric fleet. Its claim has remained the same: excellent solutions with a high quality promise – in the areas of industrial cleaning, sewer services, waste disposal, container services, transportation, and winter services. Yesterday set the pace. Today keeps up the speed. And tomorrow? The momentum will continue.
Yesterday
in the middle of World War II in 1940, Johann and Emilie Ostgathe founded a transport company. With horse-drawn carts. Twenty-five horses made up the proud “fleet” that transported materials to the Hüls chemical works—now Chemiepark Marl—and hauled away mine waste and rubble. But that was only the beginning. Pragmatism gave way to perspective: those who get stuck in create a future.
Today
The transport company has grown into an industrial service provider that combines speed with quality. With 16 container vehicles and 3 semi-trailers for logistics. With 9 suction and flushing trucks and 4 high-pressure pumps with up to 1,000 bar for clean processes. With 3 Unimogs and 2 tractors for winter service. New addition: one sewer TV vehicle for a clear view. Focus of operational activities: main customers in the Marl Chemical Park (EVONIK, VESTOLIT) and BP Gelsenkirchen. Around 100 employees secure the portfolio: industrial cleaning, sewer service, waste disposal, transport.
Tomorrow
The focus remains on sustainability and quality. OSRO-Ostgathe is investing in low-emission vehicles and measures to reduce fuel consumption and increase efficiency. Since 2025, the sewer service has been working with its own sewer TV inspection vehicle. This is how expertise grows within the company and can be passed on to trainees, the next generation.
